Dear All,
Jennifer (@drjenscott), Laetitia (@laetitiamtn), Rachel (@caminarachel) and myself would like to announce The 5th London Mathematical Society’s Women in Maths Day!
When? Friday 27 April at De Morgan House, 57-58 Russell Square, London WC1B (Nearest tube: Russell Square).
What? This annual event is aimed at bringing together women in all areas of mathematics for a day of talks and discussion groups. The speakers this year are:
- Jennifer (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory) (@drjenscott) : challenges from a large sparse world
- Rachel (Cambridge) (@caminarachel) : the influence conjugacy class sizes
- Laetitia (London) (@laetitiamtn) : marriage theorem
- Christina (Oxford) (@goldschmidtchristina) : the scaling limit of the critical random graph
The day is particularly aimed at postgraduates, final year undergraduates and those who are an early stage in their career. It provides a valuable opportunity to meet and talk with women who are active and successful in mathematics. While women are especially encouraged to attend this day, men are certainly not excluded.
Price? The event is free to all students (Oxford, London, Cambridge) and £5 for all others (payable on the day).
We hope to welcome you all!
Will certainly be there! Hope I’m not the only boy?
Registration is required?
@Adam Hi Adam, You can subscribe on the secretariats of the London, Cambridge, Oxford University OR you can send a mail to elizabethfisher@lms.co.uk ! Don’t worry: there will be many men.
@Adam I think there will be more men than woman..
Dear Lae,
I am very proud of you. As I said before many a times, if there is anything I can help you out with please let me know.
Thumbs Up for Girl Power in #Math.
Best Wishes from Bucharest

@christian You’re one of those men who feel threatened by female scientists, especially when they’re smarter than you. Poor guy.. And in the end you only look to the appearance.
@Ellen @Christian No infantile discussions on this blog. Thanks!
Whooh, already 205/300 places SOLD OUT. We rule, ladies!
Wow, a woman’s math day, so awesome! Too bad I don’t have the budget for a flight to London or I would definitely be there. I’m so proud of you ladies!! Will any of you be here in Atlanta, Georgia for the “Gathering for Gardner” in March? At least that conference is local for me. I am really looking forward to it.
@Victoria I don’t know whether the others will be there, but I certainly will. Thanks for your support!
